Been a tad quiet on the posting front over the last weeks, final few weeks left of my Uni course has meant all additional things, yes including riding my bike, have been put to one side for the time being.
I was however able to catch a few stages of the Tour whilst doing my Uni work, yes this man can multi-task (or at least I try) and what an amazing race it was. I can hand on heart say this is the most exciting Tour there has been for years, the mundane opening week of constant sprinters stages constantly reeling the breakaway back in with 5km to go has not been the story for this years Tour. The opening week or 10 days before the first rest day was a real challenge for all the riders. We had some truly inspiring rides too, not only from the youngsters like Egan or Julian, but from riders like Alex Dowsett fighting everyday to make it to Paris to say 'he completed the Tour'. That's what makes this sport great, we can all be at the same event, same road, same climb and in one way or another we can all accomplish something fantastic.
This blog wouldn't be the Lanterne Rouge Blog if we didn't take note of the Lanterne Rouge of the 2019 Tour. This year Sebastian Langeveld took the honour or displeasure of taking the title. Suffering from a heavy crash and having to limp through some of the really tough stages of the Tour I think we can all say chapeau Sebastian, completing a Tour is not easy but its made especially hard after hitting the deck hard.
I also just want to say a massive thank you to the support the blog has got over the past weeks, I am sorry the content has been low but I have an upcoming new season for the blog which I hope to bring more content and hopefully more daily content both on here and over on the Instagram page.
Until next time, Ciao!!!
